Changing neighbourhoods, one citizen meeting at a time | Municipality of Uccle (Brussels)

A constructive dialogue between elected representatives and citizens

Following a series of successful citizen consultations in 2019-2022, the municipality of Uccle appointed Dreamocracy to design and manage eight evening sessions, neighbourhood by neighbourhood, to ensure rich conversations and ideation sessions between citizens and the city’s aldermen.

Citizen participation is never more useful than if it leads to concrete actions. The objective of these meetings is therefore to follow up on previous initiatives, and to facilitate the implementation of citizen projects through the participatory mechanisms put in place by the municipality (participatory budget, citizen boost, etc.).

Following the citizen meetings in 2019-2020 and the Uccle General Assembly of 2021, eight new neighbourhood meetings were held across the municipality from October 3 to December 5, 2023. These meetings reviewed the progress on prior citizen recommendations and provided an opportunity for residents to discuss their expectations, ideas, and concerns with the local councillors in an informal setting.

New proposals from these discussions were published on the MonOpinion Uccle platform in the first half of 2024, contributing to refining local policies.
