“Let the Sunshine In”
The musical that became emblematic of the hippy era invited people to “let the sunshine in”, in a song that has since become an anthem for peace and love, using sunshine as a symbol for hope and the dawn of a better era.
“Shine on” is also the theme the European solar industry uses in their communication, a guiding line through their challenges. The team came to us after a tremendously busy and at times tense period. They felt the need to take a step back, in order to explore and strengthen their creative potential.
What is the creative potential of the leadership team of a leading European interest group? It is the ability to develop imaginative and impactful solutions that help it deal better with internal and external pressure. In order to do so, we chose to build on the SolarPower Europe team’s many strengths and accomplishments in order to boost internal motivation, creativity and strategic insights.
Appreciation, imagination, anticipation
In order to achieve the above, we applied the Appreciative Inquiry (AI) method, a positive approach to leadership development and organisational change, emphasising positive idea generation. Appreciative Inquiry (the AI that doesn’t require computers) is highly effective to boost morale and provide strategic clarity. AI indeed consists in identifying and amplifying strengths within an organisation, rather than focusing only on weaknesses or problems.
